Structured forms (Structured documents)
Structured forms or structured documents are paper documents or electronic files generated by word processing or database applications that use a standard template for document uniformity. Several common structured forms or structured documents are credit applications, insurance and medical forms, statistical forms and tax returns.
Structured forms have the following characteristics:
- Single source of origin for B2B or B2C communication
- Standardized layout
- Clearly defined field sizes and lengths, which may emulate a predefined database format
- Structured forms can be processed using simple template-based forms recognition technology
